Why Is My Hair Still Frizzy? Moisture, Repair or Styling?
Still seeing frizz after wash day? It does not automatically mean your hair is damaged. Dryness, humidity, natural texture and styling habits can all play a part. Rather than adding every treatment at once, start with the result you want: more softness, help with damage, or a smoother finish.
For dry-feeling lengths: focus on moisture
If your main goal is softer, smoother-feeling hair, consider Olaplex No.8 Bond Intense Moisture Mask 100ml. This rinse-out deep-conditioning mask moisturises, smooths and adds shine, with Olaplex bond-building technology as an additional benefit.
Where it fits: After shampooing, apply to clean, damp hair from mid-lengths to ends. Leave for 10 minutes, then rinse thoroughly. Use weekly, following the directions on your bottle and adjusting the amount for your hair.
Choose it for: A dedicated conditioning step when softness and moisture are your priorities. It is not a leave-in styling cream.
For chemically or heat-damaged hair: focus on repair
If your hair has been bleached, coloured, chemically treated or frequently heat-styled, K18 Leave-In Molecular Repair Mask 50ml offers a targeted damage-repair step. K18 describes its peptide technology as reconnecting damaged keratin chains and disulfide bonds to help restore strength and elasticity.
Where it fits: Shampoo, skip conditioner and towel-dry thoroughly. Apply 1 to 3 pumps of the 50ml mask according to hair length and density. Wait the full 4 minutes before combing or applying styling products. Do not rinse. Follow the label for frequency; K18 recommends the first 4 to 6 washes, then as needed.
Choose it for: Damage repair rather than treating frizz alone as proof that your hair needs repair. Unlike a traditional rinse-out mask, this treatment stays in your hair.
For flyaways and a smoother finish: focus on styling
If your priority is smoothing your finished style or defining an air-dried look, consider Olaplex No.6 Bond Smoother 100ml. This concentrated leave-in styling cream helps minimise frizz and flyaways while softening the hair.
Where it fits: Apply a small amount to damp hair from mid-lengths to ends, then style as desired. Leave it in. Follow your bottle's dosage directions and build gradually rather than applying too much at once.
Choose it for: Smoother styling and definition, rather than expecting a rinse-out treatment alone to control your finished look.
Do you need all three?
No. These products have different primary roles, although their benefits can overlap. Start with your main concern and keep the routine simple. This guide presents alternative starting points, not a recommendation to layer all three in one wash.
If you choose K18, keep conditioner and other products off your hair until after its full 4-minute processing time. Do not put a conditioning mask underneath it. For a personalised combination, ask your stylist to consider your colour history, hair texture and current products.
A smoother finish does not mean changing your texture
The goal can be softer curls, more defined waves or a smoother blow-dry. Frizz control does not have to mean straight hair. Choose the finish you enjoy, and match the product to that goal.
Still unsure? Ask the H&L Salon team whether moisture, repair or styling is the best starting point for your routine.
